Our Impact

Since the inception of the ‘Women Profiling Campaign’ early 2021, there has been tremendous progress as the Malawi Human Rights Commission has received over 150 Curriculum Vitae from women professionals who have since been profiled on the website. During the course of the campaign, several women have been considered for significant decision making positions. Notable among them are the appointments of Ms. Martha Chizuma as first female Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Ms. Grace Malera as the Ombudsman, Ms. Jean Munyenyembe as the first female Accountant General, Professor Dorothy Nampota as MANEB Executive Director, and Dr. Agnes Mbach Mwangwera as LUANAR Deputy Vice Chancellor. It is also worth noting that the current appointments for new Heads of Foreign Missions have taken into consideration gender representation as out of the 19, 8 are female and 11 are male. The Commission hopes that the current trend will continue to prevail until the 60-40 quota prescribed by the Gender Equality Act whose responsibility for enforcement is under it, is attained.
